The Sunshine State delivered both perfect weather and cutting-edge actuarial insights last week as we attended the 2025 Casualty Actuarial Society’s Ratemaking, Product, and Modeling (RPM) Seminar in Orlando, Florida.
Florida Connections
Our Actuarial Recruiters, Cecilia Grisolia and Jennifer Retford, had the pleasure of connecting with actuarial professionals from across the country. Our booth became a hub of engaging conversations, knowledge sharing, and of course, the distribution of our exclusive Mickey and Minnie ears—a perfect companion for attendees planning their Disney adventures after conference hours!
AI: Partner, Not Replacement
The seminar launched with a thought-provoking keynote from renowned futurist Anat Baron, who offered a refreshing perspective on artificial intelligence. Rather than viewing AI as a threat to the actuarial profession, Baron eloquently positioned it as a collaborative force—similar to how electricity transformed society a century ago.
Baron’s presentation showcased how AI is already elevating the actuarial field by handling computational heavy lifting, allowing professionals to invest more time in strategic analysis and creative problem-solving. This shift represents not just a technological evolution but a fundamental reimagining of what actuarial work can accomplish.
Emerging Technologies
The session highlighted how AI is freeing actuaries from repetitive tasks to focus on deeper analysis and creative problem-solving. We were fascinated by emerging technologies including:
- Advanced AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity are revolutionizing information retrieval and document analysis
- HeyGen‘s lifelike avatars are opening new possibilities for client communication and educational content
- Decision-making AI agents are streamlining complex underwriting processes
- RayBan’s AI-integrated smart glasses demonstrated practical applications for claims adjusting and risk assessment
- Robotics innovations from companies like Agility and Optimus showcased how physical automation is transforming property inspections and disaster response
